Why This Diet Is So Popular with Celebs

Celebrities are busy. They’re frequently flying from city to city or country to country. Their work usually takes them around the world and typically requires that they attend a constant stream of public events.

They’re also in an industry where physical appearance is paramount. It’s part of their job to look great. It’s likely a combination of these factors - being busy and needing to stay in great shape - that has led so many celebrities to the “two days a week” diet.

The premise is simple but powerful. By eating a small amount of carefully-chosen foods two days a week, you can stimulate significant fat loss. On the other days, you eat normally (no restriction necessary) and focus on healthy habits.

An increasing volume of scientific research shows that this “on” then “off” approach has numerous metabolic and health benefits. Perhaps more importantly, the fact that you’re only really “dieting” two days a week is what makes this approach so easy to sustain, especially for busy people.

Here are five celebrities who’ve used the “two days a week” system to lose weight:

1. Gisele Bündchen

Gisele Bundchen
Gisele, the famous Brazilian supermodel and Victoria’s Secret angel, is now 40. In her new book titled Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, she talks a lot about her diet and how her "metabolism has slowed.” As she explains, she has to be "very thoughtful about what I eat."

Giselle loves her detox days because they give her “more clarity and energy.” On detox days, she waits until dinner time to eat her first meal, creating an extended period of fat burning.

Along with hubby Tom Brady, Gisele is defying the aging process.

2. Jennifer Lopez

J. Lo once again flaunted her impressive figure during last year’s Super Bowl Half Time Show. We were left wondering exactly how J. Lo has managed to maintain such an incredible physique at the age of 51.

One big piece of her secret? J. Lo is a huge fan of the “two days a week” diet. She also doesn’t believe that you have to be perfect – she says it's okay to slip up on your routine occasionally.

3. Jimmy Kimmel

The "two days a week" system is popular with men too. Celebrity talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has gone through one of the most impressive celebrity weight loss transformations.

During his younger years, Kimmel frequently binged on wings, pasta, and steak, developing what he describes as very poor eating habits. It was actually an on-air interview with Dr Oz. that convinced him to make a change.

Kimmel dropped over 25 pounds from his high of 208. He absolutely loves that this approach has allowed him to keep the weight off while still eating foods he loves, like his instagrammable pancake creations.

4. Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr
Miranda Kerr, the famous Australian model, is another former Victoria’s Secret angel who reportedly loves the “two days a week” diet.

The “two days a week” approach is extremely popular in Australia. It’s not clear whether that’s how Kerr discovered it, or whether her success is what sparked so much of the country to adopt it.

5. Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch lost significant weight following the “two days a week” diet. Cumberbatch needed to be extremely buff for his role as Doctor Strange in the Marvel series.

When it came time to slim down for his role as thinner detective Sherlock Holmes, he found this eating approach to work perfectly.

With a crowded filming schedule, he loves the flexibility and effectiveness.
